The South Africa Villa Book
South Africa
|
A fascinating mix of different cultures, British, Dutch, German, Portuguese, Indian, Cape Malay, Zulu, Xhosa and many local tribes reflect the history of the country. South Africa is also blessed with a diversity of landscapes which range from the Mediterranean Western Cape, to subtropical Kwazulu-Natal and the arid Karoo Regions, to savannah safari areas such as the world famous Kruger National Park.
The diversity of Cape Town is reflected in its architecture, arts and cuisine. A typically Mediterranean climate with warm summers (February- March is locally known as the secret season) and mild winters, it is an ideal holiday destination at any time of year. Overnight flights from Europe and virtually no time difference, make South Africa particularly attractive. For the adventure, outdoor or sports enthusiast Cape Town offers a range of activities from hiking, climbing and abseiling to watersports, diving and golf. The huge variety of restaurants reflects its multi-cultured history and caters for everyone's taste, from fast-food outlets and casual to the very elegant. Vast shopping opportunities range from haggling with shop holders at Greenmarket Square Flea Market, to stylish boutiques and sophisticated shopping malls. The scenery is magnificent, from the impressive Table Mountain, standing high above the city, to its beautiful white sand beaches. The surrounding countryside extends into green farmland and vineyards.
Our properties are located in some of the most desirable areas of Cape Town. First of all, there are the houses in the ?city bowl?, nestled between Table Mountain and the sea, in areas such as Higgovale, Oranjezicht and Tamboerskloof. This area has some of the oldest houses in the city, either beautifully restored, or converted into modern architectural marvels. By staying here you are close to restaurants, entertainment and night life, the V & A waterfront and the popular beaches of the Atlantic Seaboard. We have a luxurious penthouse apartment right on the V&A waterfront. Then there are the properties on or near the Atlantic Beaches, in areas such as Camps Bay, Clifton, Bantry Bay and Llandudno. Many of the properties here are perched on the mountainside with beautiful views and pools, but not usually with large gardens. The area of Constantia is to the rear of Table Mountain, a green area near Kirstenbosch Botanical gardens surrounded by vineyards and spacious farm estates. The Constantia Valley is home to the oldest wine estates in South Africa and among the forests and vineyards you will find walking and horseriding trails and award winning restaurants. You will still be within easy reach of the city centre and the False Bay coastline and beaches, and several golf courses. Further inland, an hour?s drive from Cape Town, are South Africa?s wine growing regions with their picturesque and historically preserved towns: Stellenbosch, Paarl and Franschhoek each with their respective Wine Routes. A must for wine buffs.
We are also offering a very special property on the Pezula Estate on South Africa?s Garden Route, about 500 kms from Cape Town. Knysna is one of the Garden Route?s best known travel destinations, situated between lush forests and the shores of a peaceful estuary. In and around Knysna you will find a selection of fine restaurants, seafood taverns, pubs, cafes and some interesting shopping opportunities including the fascinating market at Knysna Quays. The Pezula Estate is also known for its world championship golf course, designed by David Dale and Ronald Fream of Golf Plan USA, and rates amongst the best and the most scenic golf courses in the world.
Cape Town International Airport is about 20 minutes (22km) from the city centre. Although Johannesburg?s O.R. Tambo International Airport International Airport is the main hub for flights into and out of South Africa, Cape Town International is nevertheless a busy airport with many of the major airlines flying direct to Cape Town.
