Amidst the green and romantic scenery of Sintra we are offering two cottages within the grounds of an 18th century Quinta. The town of Sintra has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site and boasts some excellent attractions such as enchanting palaces, castles and gardens open to the public, the Museum of Modern Art and the Toy Museum. Other suggested activities are a romantic carriage ride through the town, a tram ride to Praia das Maças (charming seaside village nearby), sightseeing in Lisbon (trains into the centre take about 45 minutes), playing roulette at Estoril Casino or shopping/dining in nearby Cascais. There is also excellent golf, tennis and riding facilities nearby and several Atlantic beaches within a short driving distance.

Further north, we have a beautiful property in the heart of the Douro Valley World Heritage Site. There is very little in the way of developed tourism in the area, yet plenty to explore and enjoy: from wine tasting and excellent restaurants (both simple and sophisticated), to nature walks and a river cruise. Guests are presented with free vouchers for the Douro museum plus a visit to one of the Port producing quintas with wine tasting. It is also possible to organize a private boat cruise; and not to be missed is the unforgettable trip up-river from Pinhão to Foz Tua on the historic steam train: never leaving the riverside and passing Douro quintas and dam locks, with the landscape of terraced vineyards changing to dramatic rocky outcrops.
