Hidden away behind an inconspicuous wooden door along one of the narrow alleyways of the ancient Medina, this beautifully-restored riad is an ideal choice for a small family or group of friends. All the main sights are close by, yet despite its central location this is a very quiet area – a perfect base for exploring Marrakech. The house is situated in the quiet, exclusive Mouassine area and is just a short walk to the Marrakech Museum and the historic Ben Youssef Merdersa (Koranic School), as well as the maze of fascinating Souks leading to the exotic Jemaa el Fna Square, with its snake charmers, story tellers, and acrobats.
Riad Zaria surrounds a tranquil interior courtyard which has a cosy cushioned bhous (a traditional alcove with seating area) and has been stylishly decorated, combining traditional Moroccan features of polished tadelakt walls, intricate stucco ceilings and colourful zelliges (mosaics), with contemporary furnishings, lamps and fabrics. Accommodation is comfortable and incorporates many original Moroccan features. One of the double bedrooms is situated on the ground floor and has an additional sofa bed, while the two elegant bedrooms on the first floor have lofty ceilings, their own small sitting area and overlook the courtyard below.
The result is a delightful small riad, in which guests have plenty of room to relax; and enjoy the elegant lounge, the shady courtyard and the delightful roof terrace, where guests can tuck into breakfast, lounge on the sun beds, or dine by candlelight under the stars. Minimum stay 3 nights stays (except Christmas/New Year when minimum 4 nights required).
