Originally owned by Princess Lala Loubaba, a princess from the Royal family, this lovely old palace is located in the historical heart of the Kasbah, just a short walk from the Royal Palace, 12th century Mosque and the beautiful Saadian Tombs. The interesting Kasbah area was built as the stronghold for the courtiers attached to the nearby King’s Palace and it is an area which is still alive today with street markets, artisans and Moroccans going about their daily life. A short walk takes you to the many sights of this exotic city, including the fascinating Jewish Mellah quarter with the historic Badi and Bahia Palaces, and through to the colourful Souks to the Jemaa el Fna, with its snake charmers, story tellers, and acrobats.
The riad has been tastefully restored by its French owners, retaining many of its exquisite colourful zelliges (mosaics) and offers both space and seclusion, with all the comforts of a modern hotel. These include the services of its delightful English speaking Manager, Sobha and her capable team, whose knowledge and attention to detail guarantee to make your stay a memorable one. The focal point of Riad Tara is its charming shady interior courtyard with four orange trees which at night iis lit by candles and is a wonderful place to sit and linger over dinner. Surrounding the courtyard there is a beautifully decorated lounge, a separate dining room, a spacious suite with a four-poster bed and two other bedrooms. On the first floor are three more bedrooms (two are interconnecting) plus another attractive suite with its own small sitting area. There is also a wonderful terrace and pergola, with a shady seating where breakfast can be served. For a spot of sunbathing or relaxation, you only need to climb a few more steps up to the flower-filled roof terrace, where guests can enjoy distant views of the snow-capped Atlas Mountains.
Riad Tara has been returned to its former splendour and is a beautiful private house for a family holiday, or a group of friends wishing to spend time in a traditional Moroccan atmosphere, whilst enjoying the comforts of modern day living.
