This newly refurbished and very comfortable villa is situated on a hilltop in peaceful rural surroundings, right near the border where Tuscany, Umbria and Lazio meet. There are incredible, unspoilt views from the property over the beautiful Val di Chiana countryside to nearby Monte Amiata, an attraction for walkers, and for skiers during the winter months. The spa town of San Casciano dei Bagni is also nearby, with its Etruscan thermal baths, as well as the lakes Bolsema, Trasimeno and Chiusi, all of which have beach facilities and cater for visitors wanting to swim and sunbathe. The Val d'Orcia is within 45 minutes drive and the beautiful, historic walled town of Montepulciano with its famous wine.
The original house dates from the 18th century and has been extended to comfortably accommodate 12 people. The accommodation can also conveniently be divided in half for two families staying together if required, with each half having its own entrance, kitchen, sitting and dining rooms. The interiors have been refurbished to a very high standard using traditional materials. The rooms have high ceilings, hand-made floor and bathroom tiles, and the windows have double glazing. Thick stone walls and ‘persiana’ shutters to keep the rooms cool in summer., while fireplaces and large radiators ensure warmth during the winter months. The very tasteful decoration and furnishing includes the owners’ own collection of antiques and works of art. With over 500 m2 of living space. the house has six bedrooms, five modern en-suite bathrooms, and spacious reception rooms. There is a library area with a large selection of books, including art history, general history, and novels, as well as Sky TV. There is ISDN internet access. The owners have young children and the house is designed to be child friendly; one bedroom is dedicated to children’s needs being cool and quiet, with a cot, and well stocked with books and toys. The very well equipped downstairs kitchen opens to a pergola covered outdoor dining area with magnificent sunset countryside views, to Monte Amiata in the distance.
The 15 metre swimming pool is situated, down the hill from the house, in a private and secluded position, with the same beautiful 360 degree views. It can be used between June and September. There are areas of complete shade here for reading and relaxing. If guests wish meals can be prepared by the Italian staff, and left in the kitchen to be heated when required. A chef can also be arranged on request. A stocked wine cellar is also available for guests' use. For bookings between October and the end of June (excluding Christmas, New Year and Easter), half the house can be rented on its own, for groups of up to six guests, and half the rental price charged.
