La Selva is a large estate in the heart of Tuscany dating from the early 13th century and set amid the rolling hills of Chianti, among vineyards, olive groves and oak woods, and within easy striking distance of Florence, Siena and Arezzo. The estate once belonged to the powerful Medici family and is now the property of another illustrious family, the Carpini. Close to the main villa of the estate are two independent apartments, called Terrazza and Libreria. These are far enough apart to be rented separately, yet close enough to be rented together by a party of six. They both have the use of a large shared pool (14 x 7m). The estate also has two large farmhouse villas for rent, Villa Fabbri and Villa Felciai (see separate entries). Activities available locally include horse riding, tennis, mountain biking, a polo club and private lake fishing. Terrazza sleeps 4 in 2 double bedrooms, and has 2 bathrooms. Charmingly decorated in traditional Tuscan style, it has a living room which opens out onto a large terrace (60 sq. m): hence its name. This is equipped with a large table for outdoor dining, and furniture for sunbathing. There are great views on all sides overlooking the private grounds and gardens of the Villa. Inside, the large, fully-equipped kitchen contains a fireplace. One of the bathrooms is very large, with a bathtub; the other has a shower. There is central heating for the colder months. Libreria sleeps 2 in 1 large double bedroom, and has 1 bathroom (with a bathtub). It has been recently renovated in luxurious style, and provides a wonderful romantic setting, ideal for honeymooners. The main room, finished in wood and furnished with antiques, has a dining area, a fireplace and living area, and a library on one wall (hence the apartment’s name). There is also a fully equipped, separate kitchen. The main room opens out onto a large and very private terrace (30 sq m), which is fully furnished for dining and sunbathing. The view is spectacular. This apartment is also equipped with central heating.
