La Lodola is a restored 18th century farmhouse which has been converted very tastefully into six apartments. It sits on a raised plateau with 360 degree views over the surrounding countryside, just 2 kms from the famous spa town of Rapolano Terme. Guests at La Lodola are offered a discount for treatments at the spa during their stay. Siena is 20 kms away, and Florence, Arezzo, Cortona and Perugia are all approximately an hour’s drive. The large garden surrounding the farmhouse is flat and ideal for children to run around. There is a large kidney-shaped pool (16 x 9m) shared between the apartments, with a sun terrace and a furnished barbecue area. In addition, each apartment has its own private, furnished dining terrace. There is a laundry on the estate which guests can use for a small fee. The property has a reception area, where guests can purchase Chianti Classico DOCG wine and extra-virgin olive oil produced by the owners. Wine tastings and cooking lessons can be arranged with enough advance notice. Meals can also be provided if booked well in advance. The interiors of the apartments have been furnished in an elegant style with antiques, Persian carpets and local county furniture. The floors and the bathrooms are in travertine marble and the walls are painted in warm pastel colours with lovely hand-painted frescoes. Amenities include central heating, satellite TV and mosquito screens. Each apartment has a sofa-bed in the living room which can accommodate another person, for an additional €100 per week. Baby cots and high chairs are available on request.
