The Sifnos Villa Book
Greece
|
Sifnos, the island of Apollo, is a beautiful mountainous island located in the western part of the Cyclades group of Greek islands, between Paros, Serifos and Milos.
Very picturesque, the typical arid landscape of the Cycladic islands, gives way to olive groves, almond trees and aromatic herbs. The hilltop villages are typically Cycladic. The whitewashed houses contrasting with pink bougainvillea vines and the blue sea.
The villa we have to rent here is near Vathi, a pretty fishing village in the middle of a large bay,on the south-west side of the island, 10 kms from the capital, Apollonia. Days on Sifnos are best spent relaxing by the sea, or in local tavernas, or taking a few long walks. The best beaches are at Faros, Kastro and Platys Gialos.
There is no airport on Sifnos, and the nearest airport is on the island of Milos, a 45 minute hydrofoil trip away. Alternatively, the island can be reached from Athens/Piraeus by hydrofoil (2 hours) or ferry (5 hours).
