This exceptional and romantic villa is perched high on the cliff top above the spectacular Caldera in the most sought-after area of the main town of Fira. The owners have spent the last two years carefully renovating this traditional 17th century ‘canava’ into a luxury retreat. It has been refurbished to the highest of standards, using handmade Italian tiles and traditional stone work, yet without losing sight of its simple, Cycladic style.
Access is via a courtyard into a large living area with high vaulted ceilings, in the traditional Santorini style. A hand-made, stained glass door leads to the master bedroom with large, circular bed, cool white walls and Italian tiled floor. Within the bedroom is a large jacuzzi, set with mosaic glass tiles. The second double bedroom can be accessed either independently from the courtyard, or from the living room, and has a small kitchenette and mini-bar. The spectacular en-suite bathroom for this bedroom has a large circular bath and a recessed hand-maide ceramic gold basin. A curved staircase leads from the open-plan living area to a mezzanine level with another double bed and a window with views of the Caldera. A further three people can be accommodated on stone banquettes, which can be made up as single beds, in the main living room and the living area off the third bedroom.
There are two terraces offering breathtaking views of the western part of the island and the sea, a wonderful place to sit in the evenings with a glass of local wine, to enjoy the famous sunsets. Amenities at the property include air conditioning, 3 flat screen TVs, 3 CD/MP3/DVD players, collection of DVDs, CDs, books and board games, telephone/fax and 24 hour internet access (the property has a lap top and a printer). There is also a professional treadmill and other exercise equipment, 2 safes, hairdryer, iron and ironing board. Included in the price are complimentary arrival and departure transfers, continental breakfast each morning, fruit basket and local wine on arrival and complimentary beach towels.
