This house is a really charming and welcoming mazet or small mas, nestled in a clearing in the woods close to the archaeological site of the Roman city of Glanum and on the outskirts of St Rémy-de-Provence, the centre of which is a 10 minute walk away.
Facing south, at the foot of Les Alpilles, from the house, one can see part of the original stone quarry that the Romans used to build the city of Glanum, which was once a thriving town in Southern Gaul, strategically located on the Via Domitia, which linked Rome to Hispania. In fact there are a number of Roman artefacts that have been used to embellish the stone work on the outside of the property.
The house has recently been renovated in a simple and comfortable Provençal style and would be ideal for either a couple or a small family that want to be far from the madding crowd. There is no pool, but there is a very pretty terrace, where one can dine outside or simply enjoy idyllic views of the natural garden and Les Alpilles beyond. The house has Internet access and a HI-FI system. There is parking space available to the rear of the house.
